Nyhavn is a waterfront, canal and entertainment district in Copenhagen, Denmark.
It was built in the 17th-century. Nyhavn is the perfect place to end a long day during the summer.
Nyhavn was originally a busy commercial port. Ships from all over the world would dock. It was a place for sailors coming to Copenhagen, and the port was splited in two parts. Now, the beautiful old houses have been renovated and classy restaurants dominate the old port.
At Christmas, Nyhavn is the perfect site for your holiday in Copenhagen. The cafés and restaurants offer Danish Christmas delicacies and the annual Christmas market fills the cobbled street with decorated stalls. This is a classic Christmas experience.
The famous Danish writer H. C. Andersen wrote his first fairy tale in the house number 20 down the harbour in 1835. Then he lived nineteen years in the number 67 and he ended his life in the house number 18.
